Dental Veneer Services

A dental veneer is a thin shell placed over the front of the tooth to improve its appearance. The veneer can be made of either ceramic or a resin composite. As with other dental procedures and treatments, you will have an initial appointment with the dentist. They will discuss the treatment plan with you and they will take X-rays and impressions of your mouth.

The Average Experience of the Procedure

First of all, the dentist will remove a layer of enamel from the tooth to allow the veneer to fit comfortably in your mouth. Then, if you are getting ceramic veneers, a mold is created of the tooth. A temporary veneer can be applied while you wait for the permanent veneer to be made. Once it is ready, the dentist will apply an etchant to your teeth to create a rough surface, then the veneer will be cemented into place.

If you go for the resin composite option, the resin can be either applied directly to your teeth or prepared separately and fitted with an adhesive, much like ceramic veneers. Once the veneers are fitted, which tends not to take long, you should take good care of them for a long lifespan. Composite veneers last around five to seven years, while ceramic veneers can last up to fifteen years.
